Personal Property Mobile Home Sale
Updated: November 30, 2007
From time to time, the Appraisal District, in its capacity as tax collector must seize and sell mobile homes on which delinquent property taxes are due and owing to the taxing entities of Hood County. If you or someone you know is interested in purchasing properties such as these, please submit your email address to hoodapp@itexas.net and you will be placed on an electronic mailing list. We will use this list to distribute photos and information about personal property mobile homes and the date and time they may be auctioned.
The District, in conjunction with its legal counsel, makes every attempt possible to inform taxpayers of their responsibility to pay their yearly property taxes and to collect these property taxes. As a last resort, the District may be forced to seek an order from the courts authorizing the seizure and sale of the subject property in order to satisfy the property tax liens. In a majority of these delinquent tax cases, the mobile homes are vacant and abandoned. Once the property is lawfully seized, the District will proceed to auction the property to the highest bidder on the courthouse steps.
Notice:
These mobile homes are personal property in nature. When auctioned on the courthouse steps, these personal property mobile homes DO NOT include land. The land is owned under a different title. If you purchase one of these homes, you have the responsibility to move the home, at your own expense, to a different location. In addition, if the home is occupied at the time of sale, you are responsible for removing the occupant before moving the home.
